third edition

This is the third edition of Oscailt and the response so far has been very favourable. However, in order to prevent it being just another version of the Dublin Calendar, we need contributions from our friends in Cork. Here are a number of suggestions for possible articles (this applies to people in both congregations).
1. What Unitarianism means to me You could do it, as Jennifer Flegg did it in the February edition, by describing a badge which would represent the various facets of your religious outlook. If you are artistically inclined you might like to draw your badge, and we could use it on the front or back cover.
2. My Spiritual Journey. What has brought you to your present position? A series of articles on this topic would help new members to get some idea of the variety of approaches within Unitarianism
3. You could fill in the questionnaire (available from Paul Spain) which would enable us all to get to know you better. An accompanying photograph would be useful.
4. My Spiritual Mentosr. Which authors - or artists, musicians, poets etc. - have given you spiritual nourishment? To whom or to what do you find yourself returning when you are in need of guidance?
5. Reviews. Paul Murray faithfully tells us what he has been reading in every edition, but surely other members are doing relevant spiritual reading! Tell us about your favourite religious books - or films, or T.V. programmes.

It might be helpful to think of an article as about 500 words long, and a review about 100, but these are not hard and fast rules. More or less is perfectly acceptable. Unitarianism thrives on diversity, and we need that diversity to be reflected in our magazine. But our diversity is not understood by everyone, particularly not by people in more conventional religious groups. Consequently, it is important for us all to remember that, should we be called upon to represent Unitarianism in a public forum, we should always stress that we are presenting our own views, and that there is no Unitarian orthodoxy.
