Dear Friends,
I am writing to say how touched I was to hear of your annual Good Friday service, when you read out the names of all the victims of the Troubles. I was especially moved because my own brother was shot dead in the Troubles - Rory Gormley, aged 14, killed on 27th November 1972.
Since the arrival of the Peace Process it is all too easy to forget the victims of the Troubles -not just those who were killed, but also those left behind -the maimed and the bereaved. The horrors of those miserable years will never be forgotten by such families as ours, the wounds, although greatly healed, will always leave painful scars. The loved ones will forever be missed.
So I am grateful that you in your small way keep their memories alive -reminding people that although we can rejoice in our days of peace, that it came at a very costly price, which the families of those murdered will pay for the rest of their lives.
Yours Sincerely,
Una Gormley
