Parthenogenesis

The heavens declare the virgin birth,
“Goodwill to men and peace on earth!”
A virgin birth? That just can’t be!
But perhaps it’s not meant literally---
An angel? That’s just superstition!
Or could it point to intuition?
His words--- let’s re-examine them---
“The Christ is born in Bethlehem
In a manger!” In a shed!?
Bethlehem means ‘House of Bread’.
Could this be our human frame,
The body, before wisdom came?
Christ as the loving, inner light
Which wise men seek for greater sight?
The manger in the stable, rude
Containing spiritual food?
With Mary, female side of mind ---
And Joseph as the male we find.
Mother, father, child; all three
Make up this perfect family---
All necessary and must meet
For each of us to be complete!
Shepherds, people of the land
Bear witness to the news first hand.
The Magi – each a powerful king –
To this young child their gifts they bring,
And warned by dreams to change their way
This sacred son may safely stay.

Please don’t dismiss this as a fable,
Christ was indeed born in a stable!
And if life’s wisdom you would win
This knowledge must come from within
Untouched, unspoiled - and then this is
A true parthenogenesis!
