Who or what brought you to Unitarianism?
I cannot abide ritual and - I found Unitarianism is comprised of people who think for themselves and it is the differences between members that is the binding force.
Who are you ?,
My name is Bill Parfrey of Cork and I look upon myself as a "Majority of One!"
What is your idea of the perfect sermon?
I do not think there is such a thing as a "perfect sermon."
Do you have a favourite word for what is ultimate for you?
The word "Trust" is the ultimate so far as I am concerned
Which living person do you most admire?
The Dahli Lama.
Give three words which best describe yourself.
Giver. Listener. Dependant.
What is the most interesting place or situation you have been in?
The Blasket Islands
Describe the place where you grew up and spent most of your time.
Small terraced house at College Road, Cork. Times were tough - outside W.C. Zinc Bath used once a week for a good wash. Money scarce. Very much a loner and thinker. No interest in sports of any kind. Read books profusely.
What are some of the things about you that have not changed over the years?
Some of the things that have not changed in my life include compassions for all including living creatures. Being of help to people all of my life.
What do you consider your most significant achievements?
The fact that I was privilged to have been able to use the Healing Gift that Almighty God gave me and as a "conduit" to help over 36,000 people. My one ambition in life was to have been a doctor/Surgeon, but it was not to be.
What do you most deplore in yourself?
Being "slow" on the uptake where Maths and puzzles of any kind are concerned. My lateral thinking could be better.
What is your greatest extravagance?
My greatest extravagance? Probably going out to Dinner about twice a year. Circumstancs do not allow much more than this.
What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
The single thing that would improve the quality of my life would be restoration of my sight.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
The most important lesson that I learned in life is summed up as follows: "Love many, trust few, ALWAYS paddle your own canoe!"
With hindsight, what would you have done differently?
I would not change a thing for, in my Book, my Soul is in charge and I just went with the flow. I found it is when one fights against the flow that trouble starts.
How would you like to be remembered?
Being remembered would not be part of my equation. The epitaph might be "He did his best!"
Who is your favourite author?
"I have no favourite author.
What is your favourite book?
"Esoteric Healing - a Treatise on the Seventh Ray" by Alice Bailey.
What CD/tape is on your player at the moment?
There is no CD/Tape/Radio playing as I type these few lines.
Have you read the Bible?
I have read the Bible many times from cover to cover.
Do you believe in life after death?
Yes, I certainly believe [KNOW] there is life after death.
What is your favourite quotation?
Favourite quotation - "The more you study the more you learn; the more you learn the more you forget; the more you forget the less you know; so why bother at all?"
