Induction of Rev Cal Courtney
at Aberdeen.

This Summer Cal was kind enough to invite me to lead the Service for his Induction as Part- Time Minister in Aberdeen. The Service was held on Sunday 8th October 2006. Paul and I arrived in Aberdeen on Saturday just as the Aberdeen Unitarian’s Autumn Fair ended.
Paul had brought copies of Oscailt and other Dublin Publications with him and over an informal lunch we discusses ways of getting the Unitarian Message to a wider audience. Saturday night was devoted to dining out and partying.
The Induction Service was attended by about fifty people. It was a beautiful and very moving Service. Cal was confirmed as Minister and promised to enter into a new relationship of sharing with the Congregation in Aberdeen. Hymns were sung with gusto and music was provided by Archie the fiddle player. The service was followed by a lunch in the Church provided by members of the Aberdeen Congregation.
The Aberdeen Congregation is not a large one but it is characterised by its vibrancy and its commitment. The appointment of a new Minister is a new beginning for them and I am confident that the days ahead will see renewal and growth for the Congregation. We wish them every blessing in their journey
