Elizabeth’s Credo
I dedicate my Credo to Leo.
I believe that religion isn’t as respected as it should be. In school I’ve noticed that people take R.E. as a ‘doss’ class, whereas I pay attention and try to learn something.
Something I’ve been thinking about for a while is being killed for being a certain religion. You see, when I was in Prague, we went to the synagogues, and I was moaning, saying, ‘Why do we have to do this? It’s boring!’ And then we went to one where all the walls were filled, top to bottom, with all the names of people – just from Prague – who were killed just for being a Jew. It was like wallpaper. And it made my mind open to how real life is, and to how religion makes a difference to your life. But nowadays it doesn’t really appear to.
After seeing how important religion was, I now have much more respect and interest in religion, and I want people to be aware of the importance of religion and how it affected people’s live, especially the Jews.
I think that if you believe something you shouldn’t be afraid to say it and you should stand by it no matter what.
