EDUCATION IS THE KEY.
BAKKA RURAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL PROGRAM OPEN THE DOORS FOR BAKKA VILLAGE

The Junior School of Bakka Village, which started in a small house without doors or windows on the main street, is now moving to new premises after about 7 years. This is mainly due to the far-seeing vision of the Headmaster Samuel Mayanja, who is spear-heading the venture, with help from friends in Ireland through me, Dorene Groocock.
This arose when renovation of their existing premises was considered, and for various good reasons it was decided to purchase a new site. I have already told of my time there last summer when the preliminaries were arranged and work was started. This was one of the most exciting, interesting, and rewarding times I have ever spent. I have single-handedly provided thousands of Euro to this project through fund-raising, which I feel is now my responsibility, and I have gained immeasurably in many ways for my own considerable financial output. We have also been fortunate in receiving some grants from various bodies and agencies. What is now needed, specifically, is money for doors for 11 rooms. These are to be metal doors with padlocks. Any amount towards this will be gratefully acknowledged in this calendar by Samuel, with (eventually) a picture!
I wish to express my very great appreciation to the church management committee for their support in three of the monthly collections to the project. The collections will be at the end of February, March and April.
